The core mission of Northern Neck Partners For Pets (NNPP) is to rescue, nurture, adopt, and educate. We are 100% focused on building and maintaining a privately funded no-kill animal shelter and adoption center. This is a critical piece of missing infrastructure needed to improve the health and well-being of animals in the entire region.

We have purchased a 35.8 acre property (debt-free) on Devil’s Bottom Road in Lancaster County. Set on a plateau, it is wooded and secluded by fields with generous set-backs. The site is well-suited for its intended purpose and has room for future expansion.

NNPP has hired DWG Architects/shelterplanners.com, noted specialists in animal shelter design. Their preliminary plan calls for a 9,000 square foot masonry building to serve initial needs. Fully outfitted to meet professional shelter standards for health and safety, project costs are estimated to be in the $2.5 – $2.7M range. Every effort will be made to maximize space for quality, efficiency, and adaptability to house, treat, and meet adoptable animals. Only modest areas will be set aside for staff and volunteers.

In taking this bold and much-needed step, Northern Neck Partners For Pets (NNPP) will expand the work of local animal-loving heroes such as the Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck (AWL), smaller non-profit rescue groups, and concerned individuals by providing a compassionate alternative for healthy, adoptable pets.
